The shire of Urola Kosta; conformed by Zumaia, Getaria, Zarautz, Aia and Orio, house a large number of unique natural areas throughout the Cantabrian coast; among which we can find in addition to its beaches, more than a dozen cliffs, forests, mountains and rivers of great natural and cultural importance. Perharps you might have heard of the Basque Coast Geopark or the Pagoeta Natural Park, yet these are just a few of the many natural areas that this territory has to offer. This is the first article of a series of others in which I will highlight the main aspects of each site. The natural treasures of which I will write in the next blog posts will be:

1. Biotopo Deba-Zumaia
2. Basque Coast Geopark
3. Urola’s Delta
4. Pagoeta Natural Park
5. Pagoeta’s Yew Tree
6. Garate-Santa Barbara
7. Getaria’s Cork Tree
8. Biotopo Inurritza
9. Oria’s Delta
10. Hernio-Gazume
